Happy New Year 2013!

Thank you to everyone for your support over the last year, and an extra big thank you to those who took the time to leave comments on posts that, for whatever reason, resonated with you. By asking questions, sharing your thoughts, and adding your own culinary experiences and wisdom, you’ve made this blog a better place, and I truly appreciate it.

As I look back over the last year, it doesn’t surprise me that the most popular posts were all from the JC100 celebration – a fifteen week campaign during which a group of bloggers cooked fifteen of Julia Child’s most celebrated recipes, sharing our stories, successes, failures, and photos along the way. Although that campaign concluded back in August, those posts continue to draw the most visitors to An Uneducated Palate, month after month. It delights me to no end that there are thousands of home cooks out there that just can’t get enough of Julia and her timeless recipes! So here they are – the top three posts of 2012:

1. The JC100: Fillets of Sole Meunière

Sauteed Sole Fillets with Parsley and Lemon on a Platter2. The JC100: Leek and Potato Soup, Two Ways

Bowl of Potage Parmentier garnished with chives3. The JC100: Coquilles St. Jacques A La Provençale

Coquilles St. Jacques A La Provencale served on the half shellI wish you all a year ahead filled with good food, great friends, and plenty of cheer.

Happy New Year!

All great dishes, and for many of us, our first contact with refined cuisine. The world was a much larger place when Julia began writing about this food–and it seemed seemed exotic, foreign and sophisticated omly a generation ago. Now it seems reassuringly familiar. No wonder it remains popular. Happy New Year and best of luck in 2013, Laura! Ken

You’ve encouraged me to take on Julia Child’s recipes. I’m no longer afraid of them because I’ve seen you do it. Happy New Year, Laura. Thanks, too, for your kind wishes.

Happy new year! The dishes look delicious. For my first dinner party after I moved out from my parents was informed by a Julia Child cookbook I got for Christmas 5 or so years ago now. Julia’s reach certainly expands over generations and all walks of life.

Look forward to another year of blogging to us both!

Me too Murissa! Between the Canadian Culinary Championships and the Wine Bloggers Conference, we’ll be able to include plenty of local content. Hopefully our paths we’ll cross this year and we’ll get the chance to meet.
      Take care,
      Laura

It’s been such a pleasure to learn from your posts. You’ve inspired me for 2013 to do more cooking, try new recipes. My husband does most of the cooking now, and I think I’m going to surprise him with my new activity in the kitchen.

      Hi Colleen,

It’s so nice to meet another Okanagan foodie! I love the clean, fresh look of your blog and may have to make myself a batch of your salted caramel sauce. It looks divine! I’ve subscribed thru your RSS feed so I can follow your posts :)

Thanks very much for stopping by.

      Cheers,
      Laura
